Feels Like Home Shawl
Home can be a place, a feeling, a song, a food, a smell, or even a person. Home is something that brings comfort and joy, a safe haven in a crazy world. The Feels Like Home shawl pattern is mean to be just that – a comfy, cozy enjoyable knitting project that brings joy and calm.
There are many different ways to knit this shawl with an endless number of possible colour combinations. The shawl is an asymmetrical triangle shape, which I find to be the most wearable shape of shawl. Whether you knit the shawl entirely out of scrappy yarn leftovers, stash dive for some special skeins and minis, or treat yourself by supporting an indie dyer or your local yarn shop, I hope that you will enjoy knitting this shawl as much as I enjoyed designing it, and that it truly feels like home for you.
SUGGESTIONS AND TIPS FOR SELECTING THE YARN FOR YOUR SHAWL:
The pattern was written as a scrappy project, perfect for using leftover yarn and/or minis but there are several options for choosing the yarn for your shawl!
Option 1:
• You can knit your shawl as a total scrappy project using leftover yarn. You will need 14 different colours which can be a fade, ombre, monochromatic or random colours of your choosing. You will need up to 10 g of each colour yarn for Colours 1 – 3, up to 20 g of each colour yarn for Colours 4 – 8 and up to approx. 30 g of each colour yarn for Colours 9 – 14.
Option 2:
• You can choose 1 main colour and 1 contrasting colour and alternate the yarns. You will need approx. 100 g of each of main colour (MC) and contrast colour (CC).
Option 3:
• You can choose one main colour and 7 different scraps or minis. You will need approx. 100 g of the main colour and between 10 and 30 g of each of the 7 alternating colours.
This shawl is suitable for beginner knitters and experts alike!
