Feline the Deer
While creating some holiday squares, my daughter (Alice, 6 years old) overheard that I needed to draw a deer. She drew this (chalkboard picture) and told me I could use it.
We couldn’t get the details in when it was a large square like the holiday square patterns, so this became a baby blanket on its own.
After getting it onto my computer she declared that her name was Feline and asked me to put her name “here”. We adjusted her tail to be less “wiggly” and Alice said it looked good. Then she wanted icicles (that’s what is hanging at the top) and I convinced her we should add some snowflakes.
Gross sales of this pattern will go to Alice.
You will receive one file containing:
- written line-by-line instructions for interlocking crochet,
- an unmarked one-page chart,
- a multi-page chart with X’s marked for mosaic crochet,
- written line-by-line instructions for overlay mosaic crochet.
The Locked Filet Mesh (LFM) interlocking crochet method uses only chain spaces and double crochets to create a mesh; two colors are worked alternately which creates the pattern.
Mosaic crochet is single crochet and double crochet stitches. The double crochet stitches cover some of the other color’s single crochet stitches to create the design. My patterns instruct you to cut your yarn at the end of each row. The back is striped but often gives a faint impression of the pattern on the front (sort of like illusion knitting). See an example here.
