Felted Bear
This little bear is full-of-himself…literally! A very small amount of wool yarn that is suitable for your machine will produce the cutest little bear. The pattern is knit such that the same yarn serves as the project yarn AND the stuffing. No waste yarn is required. This method allows for nice finished edges on the arms and legs and top of the head.
You knit one arm and leg and cut yarn. Then you knit the other arm and leg, and knit across all stitches for the body and head. So quick!
Off the machine, you fold the stuffing parts into the arms, legs, body and head and sew up the seams.
After felting, the bear made on a bulky machine with about 30 gms of worsted weight yarn will be about 5” tall. The mid-gauge machine with about 20 gm of DK weight yarn yields a bear about 3 1/2 inches. The baby bear is made with about 10 gm fingering weight yarn on a standard machine or as flat-web on a CSM machine.
Felt in your washer and meet your new bear!
