Felted Catnip Rattle Toys
Toys that rattle and contain catnip can keep a kitty busy for hours! But a cat’s claws can do major damage to knitted fabric, so upon my son’s request for cat toys for my grandcat, I set out to create some fun toys that would hold up to serious cat-play. Hand wet-felting provide a tight surface that could withstand the claws and catnip and airtight mini rattle inserts within soft surroundings that create gentle rattle sounds, provide the fun. Knit in the round and using small amounts of #4-worsted weight 100% pure wool yarn, these toys are great stash-busters and take little time to make. Set them down in front of your kitty and watch the fun begin!
You will also need: 7.5mm toy safety eyes, size 4 (3.5mm) 32” circular knitting needles or double-pointed needles, removable stitch markers, large-eyed blunt needle, long straight pins, & polyester fiberfill stuffing.
