Felted Fedora
The Felted Fedora starts at the crown with double pointed size 8 needles and increases to the stitches needed for the side. Twisted stitches add a little firmness to the sides and brim edge where needed.
The hat is finished in a washing machine, shrinking it until the individual stitches no longer show. The size can be adjusted some by the length of time that the agitation is let go on. Shape the hat over a bowl or head form, creasing the crown to make the classic fedora point. Flatten the brim or turn up the sides as desired. Let dry.
350 yards of medium weight wool yarn (not superwash) is required.
