Felted Mittens
If you’ve ever been turned off to wearing
mittens because the wind flows through them,
these are the answer! These are toasty warm
and great for making snowballs. Also a good
first mitten because the stitches are large
enough to see them easily and all mistakes are
covered up when they are felted!
Skill level: Intermediate
Size: Child: before felting palm width 5”, length
15”; after felting width 3.75”, length 8.5”. Adult:
before felting palm width 7”, length 18”; after
felting width 5”, length 10”. Felt more or less to
adjust sizing.
Gauge before felting: 12 sts and 16 rows = 4”
/10 cm in stockinette stitch using larger size
needles worked in the round.
Yarn: Worsted weight feltable wool, 275 (375)
yards (11 wpi). Model knit using Stonehedge
Fiber Mill Shepherd’s Wool Worsted.
