This project begins with a piece of loosely knitted 100% wool fabric. After felting, it is made into an oven mitt using cut and sew techniques and the included template.  Bulky machines use 1 strand worsted weight at largest stitch size. Mid-gauge machines use 1 strand sport weight or 2 strands 2/8 at largest stitch size.  Standard gauge and Passap machines use 1 strand sport weight or 2 strands 2/8 on  every other needle in order to get suitably thick, protective fabric.
