Felted Poppy
by Astor Tsang
Astor designed a felted poppy to make and wear on Remembrance Day, in honour of our war veterans in Nov 2007.
This is a excerpt from her blog:-
“November 2007
Why We Fought the War
In Canada, on November 11th at
the eleventh hour, we have a minute
of silence to remember those who
fought the war.
In Berlin, while I was standing
in the Holocaust Memorial, I can
not help but to remember WHY we
fought the war. Architect Peter
Eisenman design of 2,711 stelae
blocks covering one city block is a
poignant reminder of the over 6.5
million Jews who were murdered
in Europe.
In honor of our war veterans, I
have designed a felted poppy for all
to make and wear on Remembrance
Day“
