The story of the slippers (tutyi)
I learnt it from an old woman how to knit the tutyi (slippers). This slippers was made based on this narration.
Making tutyi (slippers) is unique, it was made only in Hungary, mainly in the Transdanubian region, mostly in Somogy,
Tolna, Baranya and Bács-Kiskun counties.
The original tutyi made from
100 wool.
Gauge:12 sts and 17 rows. With 9 mm
socks needles (13 U.S. /0 UK size) and 4,5 mm hook.
Recommended yarn:
Super Bulky (6-5 wpi);

stranded yarn spun from 100 % pure wool, that
results in warm and comfortable garments, and it’s
ideal for felting.
Length: 50 g = approx 50 m (54 yds)
Total yardage for pattern between 78-82 meters.
Size: 34-38 foot.
