Female doll base
This pattern gives instructions on how to crochet a basic humanoid amigurumi. Full instructions are given for a female doll wearing a sweater, skirt, and boots; as well as various hints and tips on how to adapt the pattern to make different clothing articles.
All instructions are written in US crochet terms, with photo tutorials for assembly and embellishments.
When made with the recommended sport weight yarn and hook, the finished doll will be approximately 24cm/9.5” tall. When made in a heavy worsted weight yarn, the finished size is about 38cm/15”.
Materials:
• Recommended yarn: Schachenmayr Catania Solids in 5 colours; approximately 0.5 to 1 skein (50g/125m) of each colour:
- Skin colour: Apricot (263)
- Hair colour of your choice. Sample uses Canary (208)
- Three colours of your choice for clothing. Sample uses Black (110), White (106), and Cyclamen (114).
• Fibrefill
• 2 Safety eyes, 12mm
• Optional: Metal wire for neck support (approximately 20cm/8”)
Tools: 2.5mm crochet hook, tapestry needle, 1 stitch marker
Difficulty: Intermediate. This doll uses mostly basic amigurumi stitches (sc, inc, dec), but requires quite some mid-row colour changing and assembly that crank up the difficulty a bit. Previous experience with amigurumi-style crochet is recommended.
