The third pattern in our Sock of the Month “National Parks Series”!

Inspired by the Hoh Rainforest in Olympic National Park, the Fern and Forest Socks have a simple and lovely fern lace pattern that runs up the top of the foot and continues up the front of the leg bordered on either side by a delicate cable braid. Turn the sock around and you find a beautiful tree made of easy-to-knit bobbles that give the fabric a remarkable nubbly texture.

Size: Small 7” to 8” (Large 8” to 9”) circumference

Gauge: 32 sts/4” in Stockinette stitch.

Needles: (2) US 1.5 (2.5mm) circular needles or size to obtain gauge.

Materials: Shown in Rowan’s Fine Art (45% Wool / 20% Mohair / 25% Polyamide / 10% Silk: 437yds/100g)

Yardage: Approximately 350 (400) yards of Fingering weight yarn (1 Skein)

Notions: US C Crochet Hook and Cable Needle

Skill Level: Intermediate

Note: For those with larger calves, increasing needle size by one size about 1” above heel will provide a more comfortable leg fit.
