Errata:
These two abbreviations were not included in some version s:
LLIP = lifted left increase purled: with left needle lift the stitch below the stitch just worked, and purl it. 1 stitch increased.
LRIP = lifted right increase purled: with right needle, lift the stitch below the next stitch and purl it. 1 stitch increased.
These are so easy and fun to knit, as easy as lace gets, really. Knit it with or without the nups (without nups is even easier). The stitch pattern spirals in opposite directions on each hand. I’ve listed this as a pattern for sport weight yarn but it looks great in anything from sport down to fingering. Actually, I’d love to see it knit in lace for an openwork look.
Sport yarn or even a light dk gives you a cushy soft and warm glove, whereas sock yarns such as Ashland Bay’s LaGrande used here in the grey gloves (dyed with wine in an iron pot) gives a more spring/easter season glove. I think it would be tres elegant in a fingering with cashmere like Bugga! or Sweet Georgia, and so soft in Malabrigo Finito. If you have small or narrow hands, knit on needles US 2/2.75mm or even on US 1.5/2.50mm. I can knit these in about 4 or 5 evenings easily. Really fun and easy to memorize.
