The Fernshaw Shawl gets it’s name from a beautiful area of subtropical rainforest in the hills near my house. In Autumn the glorious contrast of the changing leaves of the deciduous trees against the lush green of the evergreens is quite spectacular, and is echoed in the contrasts and shapes you will create with the two colour brioche Fernshaw Shawl.

This shawl is a beautiful way to jump into brioche knitting. Even brioche beginners can master this shawl. Using simple increases and shaping, the Fernshaw Shawl blooms into a warm, but light weight shawl.
It uses 2 skeins of fingering weight or sock yarn, in contrasting colours, making it the perfect pattern to finally use those two special skeins you have been saving.
Maybe you’ve got two skeins in your stash that need to see the light of day? Maybe you cant decide on one colour, no problem, use both together!
The pattern includes photos to help guide you through some techniques that might be new to you, and to help you to “read” your work.

While the pattern assumes you already know the basics of Brioche knitting, my pattern testers who had never done any brioche knitting were able to successfully complete the pattern. You might find this list in my Ravelry group very helpful if you’re new to Brioche :-)
