A simple stocking stitch, aran weight shawl, using a hand dyed yarn worked from the top down to a decorative frill edge to give it that summer, music festival mood. Increases give it a semi circular shape which gives a flattering drape.

My version is in 100% Blue Faced Leicester yarn, dyed by me, ‘Yorkshire’s to Dye For’. The colourway used was ‘Winter Rainbow’. I used 200g and size 7mm needles. You may prefer a denser fabric, in which case use a slightly smaller needle size.

If you want a shawl with a wider wingspan I suggest at least 100g more. Gauge is not important for this garment, just work as many pattern repeats as required to give you the length and drape you want.
