This crochet pattern is for a circular mandala which can also be changed into a chunky rectangular blanket. Keep it round, keep it small or make it rectangular and make it BIG… whichever you prefer!

This is a written pattern and you will have access to the pattern in both UK and US crochet terms.
The mandala can be crocheted using various yarns and hook sizes for different effects and uses. Shown in the photos I have crocheted it using a 4ply cotton with a 3mm hook and I crocheted it again using a super chunky weight yarn with a 10mm hook. What a difference in size! The smaller mandala is lovely as a wall hanging or table mat. The larger mandala can be used as a rug (be careful to ensure a non-slip backing is applied) or following the pattern it can be converted into a square or rectangle for a super chunky blanket.

I originally designed the circular mandala for a ‘Yarn Bombing’ Festival held in Milan in June 2021. I added some extra appliqué and sent it off to Italy… hence the name ‘Festival Sun’!

For the larger circular mandala (diameter measures approximately 84cm across) and blanket (measures approximately 90cm x 110cm) I used a super chunky yarn and a 10mm hook.
