Festive Mitten Garland
Here is my new pattern for Christmas 2019 featuring a pick ‘n’ mix selection of designs which you can mix and match to create your own garland in your own way.
I think this is a perfect addition to your winter home decor with a bit of a scandi feel.
There are 6 different designs, basic plain mitten, fair isle pattern, heart fair isle pattern, braid cable, heart stitch and bobble all of which can be knitted in two different sizes.
This pattern has been tested out for me by some ladies from my knitting circle.
One of the ladies was not confident with anything beyond basic knit and purl stitches, she used the little heart stitch pattern which creates movement using twisted stitches as a confidence boosting opportunity to try something new and different.
If you’re an experienced knitter there is plenty of scope for you to play about with my ideas and add you’re own touches but if, like my friend, there is something you’ve not had the confidence for before, like fair isle or cable knitting, this is a chance to give it a try on a small project and impress yourself with your new found skill.
Choose your own colour scheme and put your own combination of colours, stripes, pattern, sizes together to produce a fabulous festive home decoration that will come out and look fantastic year after year.
The garland could be utilised as an advent calendar if the mittens were numbered and had treats inside.
If you didn’t want to make a garland there are a host of other options for using the patterns.
The mittens would make pretty tree decorations, maybe one could be used as a ‘gift bag’, or they could be distributed around the house with little surprises inside. They would look amazing added to your door wreath…the options are as many as your imagination allows!!
