Great Pattern For Handspun Yarn
This garment is an easy, fast knit and is comfortable to wear with no falling off the shoulder syndrome. This design features knitted stockinette in the round, from the bottom up, steeking, and fringe. I have also included a version for knitting flat (no steek) with or without fringe.
The pattern uses 450 - 500 yards of a light worsted weight yarn. Great pattern for handspan.
Suggestions given in pattern to make project with hand-spun or with commercial yarn. Spinning suggestions for fiber and finishing your hand-spun yarn also included in the pattern.
Often when wearing shawls or wraps I found the garment slipping off my shoulders and adjusting the garment. This design is the cure for that problem.
I am a member of the Fort Wayne Flax and Fleecers Spinning Guild. Each month of 2013 and 2014 we spun a new breed of sheep’s wool. We were given about 1 ounce each month of a specific breed to spin in any way we wanted. This design is meant to show case each month’s fiber for the breeds of sheep we received in 2014. For finishing, the garment is aggressively blocked which helps even out any inconsistencies that may have occurred from spinning such different breeds of sheep. In 2014 we had several breeds with white fiber. I decided to dye 4 of the skeins. I used immersion dying for the 4 chosen skeins.
Grab some sheep breed samlpler’s at your local fiber mill or fiber festival and try the Fiber Muse. You may learn some new fibers and have a comfy, stylish garment to show off all your handy work.
