Fibonacci was an Italian Renaissance mathematician famous for popularising Indo-Arabic numerals in Europe. In the Fibonacci Sequence each number is the sum of the previous two numbers, thus:

0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55 etc

Like the Golden Ratio, it is thought to form a particularly pleasing pattern to the human eye. This baby vest is a great way to use up a couple of odd balls from your stash and create your own knitted Fibonacci sequence.

The pattern comes in baby size and 3-5 yrs.
Finished chests approximately 46 cm/18” (baby) and 66 or 70 cm/26 or 27.5” (child).
Lengths approximately 27 cm/10.5” (baby) and 37 or 41 cm/14.5 or 16” (child).
Gauge is important for this pattern, particularly row gauge.

  • Three-needle bind off (explained in pattern)
  • Knitting in the round
  • Knitting flat
  • Decreasing (k2tog, p2tog, ssk, ssp)

  • Picking up stitches
  • Ribbing
  • Stockinette
  • Wrap & Turn (explained in pattern)
