this is a very french triangle for the hair, it can be knit by the beginner knitter as well as by the experienced one and is a mindless, fast and rewarding knit.
this specific red that i used is called “Rouge Hermès” red after the famous brand (the logo is an old carriage pulled by a horse).

A fichu, also known as kerchief in english, is a triangle that is either knotted in the front or in the back to tuck in all the hair.

i wanted a head-cover which wouldn’t be a hat.
the interest comes from the yarn itself and the all around holes after the border, those framing the face are inserted with a “Vichy” gingham ribbon.
some “dimples” (tech: welts) pinch the knitted fabric atop with rows under, making for spots of deeper hues and shortening/giving more width to fichu at random places.

a 25 gram angora skein knit loosely was enough to cover the whole head with a bit of puffing.

you could also knit this in black for your guy to wear like a pirate.

ETA: i’ve had some questions about what “dimples” are, they are technically called welts.
will try to make a video on my way of doing that, it shortens the fichu (making it look wider) and gives it a textural interest.
