Field Life Socks
I am in love with the sleek, graphic appearance of this ribbing. It reminds me of freshly plowed fields and the upcoming growing season.
The socks are knitted cuff down. The cuff and instep are adorned with the three-dimensional, tactile ribbing. The pattern continues onto the heel flap, and the heel features a French heel turn.
Sizes: The pattern includes 4 sizes in width: 60 (64), 68, and (72) stitches. The length of the foot can easily be adjusted. If there is only one stitch count in the pattern, it applies to all sizes. When choosing a size, select the one with 2-6 more stitches than you typically use for knitting socks. This ensures that the pattern doesn’t stretch too much when worn, allowing the three-dimensional ribbing to stand out more effectively.
Yarn: Fingering weight sock yarn, 400-425 m 437-465 yds / 100 g. The dark grey socks are made with Cecily Grove Yarns Goya Sock yarn, and the lighter socks with Opal 4-ply sock yarn.
Yarn usage: approximately 70 (80) 90 (110) g. If you want a higher cuff, you will need more yarn. If your gauge doesn’t match, the yarn consumption may differ from the pattern’s estimate!
Gauge: 30 sts and 50 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm 4″ x 4″ in stockinette stitch.
Needles: 2.25 mm US 1.5 80 – 100 cm 32″ – 40″ long circular needles if using the magic loop method, or another needle size to meet gauge.
Knitting style: The pattern is written for the magic loop technique. If you want to knit with double-pointed needles, the 1st needle refers to needles 1 and 2, and the 2nd needle refers to needles 3 and 4.
Notions: Tapestry needle, 2 meters 2-3 yds of roughly the same thickness yarn for the tubular cast-on, crochet hook.
