Field of Flowers wrap
Mini skeins are everywhere, and they are very pretty, but what do you do with them?
The Field of Flowers wrap takes your minis (or your leftovers) and ties them together with a contrast colour to make a beautiful, wearable item.
The wrap uses one and two colour brioche and is worked from corner to corner, making the size easily adjustable. It has both written instructions and charts.
Materials:
• For the main colour: Fingering weight yarn in 18 colours, approximately 70m (77yds) of each. If using 100g fingering weight skeins for your MC you will require 3 skeins.
• For the contrast colour: 900m (984yds) of fingering weight yarn.
• 4mm/US 6 circular needle with an 80cm/32” or longer cable.
• Locking stitch marker or small cable needle
• Tapestry needle to weave in ends.
Size of finished wrap:
Length 200cm/78.75”, width 77cm/30.25”, relaxed after blocking. The size is fully adjustable, from a scarf, to a wrap, to a blanket.
Gauge:
Obtaining gauge is not essential, as long as you are happy with the fabric you are getting. Different gauge will affect the size of the finished object and the amount of yarn used. The sample wrap had a gauge of 14 stitches and 18 rows of two colour brioche rib in a 10cm x 10cm (4” x 4”) square, after blocking.
In case of need, this and all my patterns are available through the Fiber Community Fund.
Stitch abbreviations and chart symbols are based on those developed by Nancy Marchant.
