Fields of Hokkaido
Introduction
This shawl was inspired by the many fields of blooming flowers that create blocks of color in Hokkaido, the least developed of Japan’s four main islands. Lavender and tulips span the land as far as the eyes can see. This shawl features color blocks and stripes of color to resemble the beauty of this landscape.
Materials
800 - 1200 yards (732 - 1098 m)/200 - 300 grams of any fingering weight yarn held double and a minimum of 6 colors - using up bits of leftover yarns would be great for this project!
US 6 (4.0 mm) circular needles with a 24 inch (60 cm) and 60 inch (152 cm) cable
Darning needle for weaving in ends
Finished measurements:
One size - Large
This shawl was designed to be worn wrapped around your neck a few times and is perfect for the cold months!
Gauge:
If you have a tighter gauge (more stitches per inch), your shawl will be a bit smaller.
If you have a looser gauge (few stitches per inch), your shawl will be a bit bigger.
