This pattern is an easy “sequence” project in 5/5 rib. Three different colors are used, changing every row by carrying the yarn up the selvedges. There is a photo showing how to cross yarn to carry it up the sides.

Width and length can be easily altered by a multiple of 5 and worked with an odd number of sections. This way every row begins with “knit 5”.
