Fifth Floor Walk Up Poncho
I have always loved ponchos, even when they weren’t particularly fashionable. They are pretty much like wearing a hug. When I set out to design this poncho, I wanted to make a garment that is suitable for layering, that was trendy and most of all, and that was not like wearing a blanket! I hope you agree that this modular garter stitch top achieves all three goals. The length and style are practical for everyday wear and the fabric in thin enough to provide warmth with being stifling.
Bonus: you’ll love the construction because each tier builds modularly on the last and therefore there are very few ends to weave in and only a few rows of purling at the neckline.
This poncho is designed to showcase the long gorgeous color changes in any Noro sock weight yarn. You can easily substitute any fingering weight with similar gradient progressions.
Ideas include: Schoppel-Wolle Zauberball, Vikings of Norway Nordlys, and Knit Picks Chroma. Of course it would also look amazing in stripes or colorblocks. There are no limits!
