Filigree
Filigree is a word is a delicate kind of jewellery metalwork, usually of gold and silver, made with tiny beads or twisted threads, or both in combination, soldered together or to the surface of an object of the same metal and arranged in artistic motifs, often meant to suggest lace.
This scarf design features a delicate tracery of entwined stitches over columns of stocking stitch, eyelet panels, borders that are frame the length of the scarf and continue to the tailored, eyelet ruffle ends. Garter inlay panels and borders are echoed in the Icelandic Cast Off that finishes each fluted end.
The finished garment measurements of 20 cm / 8 inches x 127cm / 50 inches, are generous but easily adjusted to personal taste.
Folio works up light and airy on the recommended needles, though slightly heavier DK’s are suitable. Two and one half skeins were used, the minimum yarn requirement of 600m.
