Filmy Fern Shawl
I designed this shawl to complete this journey of lace knitting shawls. The fern is an emblem of New Zealand, though it appears as a knitting pattern in some form in most lace traditions. It celebrates both the usefulness of charts in lace knitting and the very fine yarns that show lace patterns beautifully.
Artisan Gossamer is a two ply merino laceweight - 500metres/18 gms
23 July 2013 - the Filmy Fern pattern was used with permission by Cynthia Read for the hand spun and knitted shawl commissioned by the New Zealand government as their gift to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their son.
