This shawl was designed during a time where everyother aspect of my life was filled with plans, requirements, and deadlines. We were very busy in the dye studio and surrounded by color. This was basically the opposite of all of that, initially knit up in wooly undyed yarns in their natural state, I started swatching and playing, knitting without a plan at all. When my life feels out of control I obsessively plan and manage my knitting, when everything is ordered and managed my knitting is unstructured play. Crafting for me is a way to find balance, center myself and provide the needed ingredient in my life. I love shawls, but am not a huge fan of purling across acres of fabric, and garter stitch has such a squishy comforting feel. I used the Elizabeth Zimmerman recipe for a Pi shawl and played with texture and color to find something that had just the right balance for me
