We are back in fine feather with some cozy convertible mittens. The Fine Feather Mittens pattern uses 2 contrasting colors to make that Fine Feather stitch pattern shine. This pattern also features a seamless flap so that you can wear your mittens like fingerless or full-on mittens. A perfect pattern for early winter, whether for yourself or for loved ones.
This is an intermediate level pattern. The pattern is written in standard US crochet terms.
There are instructions for modification throughout so that you can customize your pair.
Hooks
2.5 mm and 3.5 mm
Sizing
This pattern is written in 4 sizes (XS to L), based on your hand circumference. The fit is snug, with no ease.
Size: XS (S, M, L) = 6” (7”, 8”, 9”)/15 cm {17.5 cm, 20 cm, 22.5 cm}
Yarn and Yardage
This pattern uses DK weight yarn. Since this mitten has no ease, I would not recommend very stiff yarns with no elasticity. Most testers used some form of wool yarn.
Yardage (CC = contrasting color; MC = main color):
- XS: CC: 100 yards (92 m); MC: 195 yards (178 m)
- S: CC: 105 yards (96 m); MC: 241 yards (220 m)
- M: CC: 110 yards (100 m); MC: 284 yards (259 m)
- L: CC: 120 yards (110 m); MC: 360 yards (329 m)
Yardage is maximum based on tester experience; you might need less.
