The ridges mimic the columnar geometric rock face that surrounds Fingal’s Cave on Isle of Staffa in Scotland. This hat is knit bottom-up always viewing the right side, using an all over lace construction to develop the linear texture. The ridges mimic the columnar geometric rock face that surrounds Fingal’s Cave.

This hat has a rolled hem with a hidden 1x2 rib. The rib is used to help with snugging the hat on but also as a setup for the ridge work on the hat. You will be increasing by 30 sts in the setup row and decreasing by 30 sts once you have 4.5” of length for the hat body.

Both written and charted instructions for the stitch pattern featured in the design are provided in this document.
