Ask 101 people “what is the point of fingerless gloves?” and you could come up with 101 different answers. Whilst fingerless gloves would appear to defeat the object of keeping warm, any techno-savvy teen will tell you that they are essential winter accessories when texting, or operating any touch-screen device!

Basically, they allow dexterity whilst adding some protection against the cold, as well as being uber chic.

This knitting pattern for fingerless gloves has been designed to complement my button-up leg warmers by using a similar lace pattern, together with optional buttons and lace trim.

This is an easy pattern to knit, and only requires a single 2 oz skein (50g ball) of light worsted (double knitting/8 ply) yarn to make the pair.

The finished gloves measure approximately 8 and a half inches (21.5 cm) in length (excluding lace trim) and will fit most hands from ‘tween’ to adult.

My patterns are written in plain English, which makes them easy to follow whether you are a newbie knitter or you have many years of experience.
