Simple fingerless mittens made with two contrasting color and hat.
Size of mittens is adjustable.
For a pair you will need approximately 35g of one color, this depends on the way how you will use your colors. Example for red and green mittens I used 35g of red color and 17g of green and they were knitted on 3mm needles.

  • preferable weight of yarn is sock weight or 4ply
  • set of DPNs - with 2.25mm needles is circumference app. 17cm - with 3mm needles 19cm
  • gauge – 2.25mm – 22 sts/18 r – 5x5cm - 3mm – 19 sts/18 r – 5x5cm
  • stitch marker and tapestry needle, scrap yarn

Mittens are knitted in rounds.
Color pattern is made of 4 sts and 5 rows/rounds, total repeat is 18 with 72 sts on the beginning.
Thumb - describing two different technic for making thumb, it is entirely up to you, we all have our preferences, also pattern which you use. I played with simple knit and ribbed patterns, didn’t have enough patience for following color pattern, but it could be done.
