The Finlayson hat is a super bulky knit toque that was inspired by the beautiful texture in the Ranunculus Sweater by Knit Cafe Midori. The pattern is a simple two row repeat followed by two “stripes” of slip stitches creating a soft but beautiful texture. This hat knits up quickly and is perfect for those last minute gifts.
Finlayson is named after Finlayson Point Provincial Park in Northern Ontario, Canada with its vast forest and surrounding lakes. The soft texture in the hat creates dimension in the knit toque while the slip stitch “stripe” detail creates interest and depth in the hat. Although the hat would look great on its own, it is always suggested to top it with a faux fur pom from Peony Lane Poms.
