Finnie reminds me of all the old finials on top of fence and gate posts around my town of Salem. I’ve spent a lot of time outside as of late and I never get over the beauty of seeing new with the old. I thought pairing this colorwork pattern with such a vibrant yarn like Spincycle’s Dream State would be a fun take on this dichotomy.
Finnie is a yoked colorwork sweater, worked from the top down. I added a twisted rib and absolutely love how it turned out - I think that helps elevate the sweater for a slightly dressier feel. Don’t worry though, Finnie is very cozy with a little ease added in, so you can wear it with jeans, skirts, dresses, or your favorite yoga pants!
The colorwork pattern is charted.
Construction:
This yoked sweater is knit from the top down in the round. The sweater begins by working the neckband. Then short rows are worked to add height to the back neck. From there, you will begin working your colorwork charts and increases. Once you have finished the yoke section, you will separate the sleeves and body. Front and back are joined at the underarms to knit in the round. The body is worked in the round, finished with a bottom hem trim rib. The sleeves stitches that are on hold, are then worked in the round to the cuff.
