Although not strictly Finnish, the patterning on these legwarmers is inspired by my love of all things Scandinavian. The legwarmers have calf shaping which gives a more feminine profile and means they don’t fall down or slouch too much around the ankle when you want to wear them pulled right up, but they also look great worn further down the leg. In aran yarn they don’t take long to knit, and the colourwork is fun and simple to master (just two colours per row except for two rounds which use all three colours). They’re available in two sizes, and because they’re knitted from the top-down you can make them as long as you want; the stated yardage is for legwarmers 37cm/14½ inches long, but if you have lovely long legs (I wish…) just make sure you have a little more of the MC.

Sizes (will stretch a little when worn from the ‘flat’ dimensions below):
1) 28cm/11¼ inches around upper calf, 24cm/9 inches around lower leg
2) 32.5cm/13 inches around upper calf, 29cm/11½ inches around lower leg

Total yardage, size 1 (2):
MC: 200 (235) yds
CC1: 40 (50) yds
CC2: 40 (50) yds
