Fiona Dog Sweater is a warm winter pullover for dogs.

The design is slightly loose-fitting, making it easier to put on and allowing a harness to fit comfortably underneath. The pattern includes two sizes:

Small Dog (Size S):

• The dog’s chest circumference: 40 cm
• Neck to tail base: 45 cm

Small-Medium Dog (Size M):

• The dog’s chest circumference: 48 cm
• Neck to tail base: 54 cm

The pattern also includes tips for adjusting the size for larger or smaller dogs. However, please note that dogs vary greatly in proportions, so this pattern may not suit all breeds. If your dog has a particularly thick neck compared to its body, modifications may be more challenging.

The Fiona Dog Sweater is knitted from the collar down to the hem. The instructions include an optional opening for a harness. The sleeves for the front legs are added at the end but can be omitted if desired. The hem includes separate instructions for male and female dogs.

Any bulky-weight yarn can be used for this sweater, but Álafosslopi is good for snowy weather as it repels moisture well. The pattern requires a main color along with four other colors.

• Size S: Approx. 90g (3.2 oz) of the main color, 50g (1.8 oz) of the background color (e.g., white), and 15–30g (0.5–1 oz) of each contrast color.
• Size M: Approx. 140g (5 oz) of the main color, 60g (2.1 oz) of the background color (e.g., white), and 25–50g (0.9–1.8 oz) of each contrast color.

The colorwork pattern is simple, as it has no long floats and only two colors per row. A slight challenge comes from the separate back and chest sections, which are worked back and forth, requiring also purl colorwork.

The pattern is designed for double-pointed needles, but it can also be knitted using circular needles with the Magic Loop technique, if preferred.

Fiona-koiranneule on lämmin talvipusero koiralle.

Malli on hieman väljä, jolloin se on helpompi pukea ja valjaat mahtuvat hyvin puseron alle. Ohjeessa on kaksi kokoa:

Pieni koira (S-koko):

• Rinnanympärys: 40 cm
• Pituus niskasta hännän tyveen: 45 cm

Pienehkö keskikokoinen koira (M-koko):

Ohjeessa on mukana vinkkejä sen soveltamiseen myös ohjekokoja suuremmalle tai pienemmälle koiralle. Huomioithan kuitenkin, että koirat ovat mitoiltaan hyvin erilaisia, eikä tämä ohje välttämättä sovellu kaikille. Jos koiralla on esimerkiksi kovin paksu kaula suhteessa vartaloon, ohje ei ehkä ole helposti muokattavissa.

Fiona-koiranneule neulotaan kauluksesta helmaan. Ohjeessa neuvotaan, miten valjaille jätetään tarvittaessa aukko. Etutassujen hihat neulotaan lopuksi, mutta ne voi jättää poiskin. Helmasta on mukana erilliset ohjeet narttu- ja uroskoiralle.

Neuleeseen sopii mikä tahansa bulky-vahvuinen lanka, mutta erityisesti lumisille keleille Álafosslopi on hyvä, sillä se pitää hyvin kosteutta. Pohjavärin lisäksi neuleessa käytetään neljää eri kuvioväriä.

• S-koossa pääväriä kuluu n. 90g, pohjaväriä (esim. valkoinen) n. 50 g ja muita värejä 15-30 g
• M-koossa pääväriä kuluu n. 140g, pohjaväriä (esim. valkoinen) n. 60 g ja muita värejä 25-50 g.

Kirjoneulekuvio on helppo, koska siinä ei ole pitkiä langanjuoksuja ja kerroksella on vain kahta väriä kerrallaan. Hieman haastetta tuovat erilliset selkä- ja rintaosa, joissa neulotaan edestakaisin, eli kir-joneuletta täytyy tehdä myös nurjalla.

Ohje on tehty viidelle sukkapuikolle, mutta neuleen voi halutessaan tehdä myös pyöröpuikolla esimerkiksi Magic loop -tekniikalla.
