This knitted lace border was originally published in Weldon’s in 1895; then Jane Sowerby revived it in her “Victorian Lace Today” book – one of my most treasured, top shelf knitting books. Jane used it with big “berries” in quite a chunky style scarf.

Berries have been replaced by beads, and the charts offer variations for the degree of beading required, from very heavy to light.

The starting point and bar placements have been modified.

26 row repeat, making 13 joins. A narrower option is also included in the charts.

Ideal for circular shawls.
