For some reason, I have always marked the beginning of summertime with capturing fireflies. I capture at least one each summer, make a wish, and let it go. This has been a summer ritual for as long as I remember.

Firefly Seeker is a simple linen tunic that can transition into several different seasons as a standalone dress with bloomers, or a top layer over longer pants and sleeves as the weather gets cooler. The linen helps keep your little one cool as the temperatures rise in the summer.

It is knit with a bit of positive ease so the darling little recipient can grow into it and wear it for many months. The durable linen can stand up to a lot of wear, and can be thrown in the washer and dryer.

This pattern is suitable for beginning knitters that are comfortable with decreases and short rows. The pattern includes links to resources to help with some of these techniques.

The sample shown in the pattern is the 12 month size, knit with 2” positive ease and took 265 yards total (76 yards for the bottom portion, 189 for the top portion). If you would like to use one color, sizes smaller than 12 month can use just one skein of Euroflax. Sizes larger than 12 months will need two balls.

This is a summer tunic, but it can easily transition into a piece that lasts for several seasons. It could work with a number of different fibers.
