Firestone Cowl
A delicate and very feminine cowl inspired by the dappled light that flickers through the trees in Firestone Copse on the Isle of Wight.
Lovely for Spring, Autumn or cooler Summer evenings. The Firestone has been designed to give the look of a wrapped around cowl but, instead, it consists of a large double circle that is placed over the head and twisted at the front of the neck where it stays in place.
Method
The Firestone is worked in the round. At first, you will make one circle, fasten off and then reattach your yarn into the original foundation row of this first circle. The second circle is then made as a layer onto the first so both scalloped edges face outwards.
This pattern is recommended for the intermediate crocheter. However, the instructions are detailed and may suit a confident beginner, who would like to try something a little more ambitious but a still relatively small project.
Materials
1 x 50g skein of DK/light worsted yarn (pictured example made in Rainbow Glitter DK from the classic collection by Creative Yarns, shade 1078) NB: Any soft DK/light worsted would look lovely.
