The firfir socks strike a delicate balance between playful and wearable - inspired by how flowers can turn our attention to them with their colors and shapes, the ruffles on these ankle-length socks mimic flower petals and the bobbles evoke flower buds.

They are worked toe-up in stockinette with a gusset and short-row heel. The ruffle is worked separately and then knit together with the cuff which is completed with a picot edge. Bobbles are added afterwards with a crochet hook.

Needles

2.5 mm / US 1.5 circular needle with a cable length of at least 80 cm / 32” (or needle size to obtain gauge)
2.5 mm / US 1.5 double-pointed needles (or needle size to obtain gauge)

This pattern uses the magic loop technique. DPNs are optional, used for connecting the ruffle to the cuff.

32 sts x 44 rounds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” (in the round, in stockinette stitch, after blocking)
