My Aunt and I sat down for a few minutes together to show her a basic, easy cable without using a cable needle. I was making a quick cowl that I had designed for my Mom. This is that super quick and very simple cabled cowl!

I have written out a description of the cable crossing used (without a cable needle) in the pattern as well as created a short video https://youtu.be/9HOGJg6JAkE

Pattern Info

Size: I have called this One Size Fits All which probably works most of the time but you can certainly make it smaller or bigger by adding or subtracting groups of 8 stitches. Also, you could make it shorter by knitting less of the five row repeats. A loose cast on and bind off when knitting garments to fit over a head is generally advised (don’t ask me how I know that!).

Yarn: I have used Juniper Farm Moonshine which is a Worsted weight and any worsted will work - preferably something cozy. I used only half a skein as well (48g)!

Needles: 6mm or US 10, 16” long circular

Notions: Stitch marker for BOR and needle for weaving in ends
