this is an easy first project. knit flat with long tails for seaming, it introduces the first-time knitter to garter stitch, yarn-over, k2tog, with a satisfying not-quite-instant gratification factor, as even for a beginner, it knits up quite quickly.

i love the koigu for this project: the colorway design makes it very easy to distinguish one stitch from the next, the yarn is lovely and soft to knit, and the fabric is yummy! size 7 needles make for relatively fast progress on this beginner project.
