First Queen Socks
She was England’s First Queen or Bloody Mary to most, but she was born Mary I, Mary Tudor, daughter of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon and older sister to Queen Elizabeth I. She was the first queen to rule England by birthright.
Her younger half-brother Edward VI succeeded their father and tried to have her removed from the line of succession because he thought she’d try to reverse the English Reformation and restore the property to the Church, and she did attempt to do so. Parliament actually tried to name Lady Jane Grey as his successor when Edward VI died and Mary deposed her then had her beheaded.
Mary married Phillip of Spain in hopes of having a child that would keep Elizabeth off of the throne. however, she died at age 42 without an heir from ovarian cysts or uterine cancer.
These socks feature cables and texture to create an easy-to-memorize pattern that was inspired by different textures from paintings of the Queen.
