Weldon’s Practical Needlework “Fishbone Insertion”, vol. 10, p.9, had so many errors, I had to devise my own version! Both Weldon’s and my pattern have a 12-row repeat. My version is 36 stitches wide. The wrong-side rows are purl across.
Note: Aunt Lydia’s Classic 10 colored crochet threads seem to be thinner than the white thread. I used one-size-smaller knitting needles to compensate.
The swatch is 4 inches wide at gauge. It’ll take about 1 hour to knit 4 inches of a 36-stitch-wide strip.

Skills needed: cast on, slip, knit, purl, yarn over, k2tog, SSK, yarn over and bind off in knit stitch.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.

60 yards of #10 crochet thread will make 10 inches of a 36-stitch-wide strip in the stated gauge.
