Fisherman Filet Scene
This is a rugged pattern for that outdoorsman in your life. A filet scene with optional bead work for a table topper, a picture for his wall, or a show piece for his desk! Whatever you make, it will certainly brighten his study.
How about a pillow top for his comfy chair? Work it in yarn and make an afghan. There are all kinds of possibilities. It is definitely a gift that your outdoors man will treasure forever.
The finished size will depend on the size of your thread, your hook and your particular tension.
For an afghan, I recommend using sport weight yarn. This pattern is 92 blocks square without the border. Remember the heavier weight that you use, the larger it is going to be.
Please note that it took me almost exactly 900 yards for the filet scene without the border in the size 30 thread. I had only about 1.5 yards left over.
Instructions are given so that you can use tr, dc, or edc filet stitches. This is traditional 4 stitch blocks. Flexibility is important in a pattern so that you can customize it and make it your own creation. The pattern allows for with or without beads, with or without the border and with or without contrasting colors.
This is a re-charted pattern from the vintag book Le Filet Brode. I have added written instructions to get you started on the chart, bead options and a border. This is NOT just a copy of the original chart.
Have fun!
