This scarf was designed for a fisherman/hunter/farmer and has an anchor and chain, which is overlaid on filet crochet images of an albacore tuna, a pint of beer, a digger, a chainsaw, and antlers. I designed this scarf in memory of my fisherman.

You will end up with a ‘right side’ and a ‘wrong side’ because the chains are only on a single side. It will come out a bit uneven if you don’t block the scarf because the filet crochet parts will be more narrow, and the bobble stitches make it slightly wider.

There is a written pattern along with charts. A few of the stitches can be a little fiddly (like the modified Jacob’s ladder and the bobble stitch), but once you work them out it’s very straightforward and most of the scarf is made with double crochet stitches.

Materials:
3.5mm hook
600m Ashford merino 4 ply (200m/50g, shade 811, mallard)
50 to 75m Ashford merino 4 ply (200m/50g, shade 805, steel)

Stitches used:
BO = bobble stitch
ch = chain
DC = double crochet
DC cross = cross of two double-crochet stitches
DC loop = modified Jacob’s ladder stitch
FDC = foundation double crochet (you can skip this and use chains and double crochets instead)
Sl st = slip stitch

Gauge:
20 sts = 4”

Scarf measures:
7” wide x 70” long
