This pattern accompanies the Learn Something New! article on working single-row stripes using a circular needle. When I was thinking of what to do for the project, I vaguely remembered that traditional French fisherman sweaters were striped. After extensive research (I typed “French fisherman sweaters” in Google), I discovered that I remembered correctly. (If you are interested in the history of these sweaters, this link will provide full information.)

This version, worked in cotton, features a boat neck and three-quarter length sleeves. It is wider at the bottom than at the chest, and the ribbing at the bottom is not functional but is blocked completely flat. The front and back are the same. It is designed with 2” of ease. There is minimal finishing required.
