Fit-n-Flare Trumpet Skirt
From Knitting Lingerie Style:
There is no sexier skirt silhouette than the trumpet shape. It hugs the hips and thighs, flows around the knees, and exposes a pretty ankle. The motion it makes while walking is a sensuous swish.
This version was inspired by the knitted petticoats women wore for warmth in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Adapted from antique knitting patterns of that time, it’s fitted at the top (originally to give less bulk under a corset) and flared at the bottom to fill out the bell shaping. Circularly knit, my rendition has the added bonus of openwork ladder-stitch lines, giving the skirt a gored look to punctuate curves and emphasize the vertical line. Pretty little glass leaves trim the ends of the drawstring skirt.
