Meet “The Stonehenge” Knitting Pattern. I’ve decided to name each of my pieces after a Weird NJ site. If you’re from New Jersey, then it’s likely that you know what this is! Weird NJ is “Your Travel Guide to New Jersey’s Local Legends and Best Kept Secrets.” “The Stonehenge” Knitting Pattern is named after rock formations located at the top of Pyramid Mountain in Morris County. One formation called “Tripod Rock” features three small stones supporting a huge boulder that was placed on top of them. Another formation features two boulders and a third rock that has a V-shaped depression in it. On the summer solstice each year, these three together form an alignment with the setting sun. Archaeologists still do not know how this stonehenge was formed. They speculate that it can possibly be a memorial for an Indian Chief or an important event from thousands of years ago. Many Indian artifacts have been discovered around Tripod Rock over the years as well. You can read more about this story in Issue 1 of Weird NJ!
