Five Boroughs Cardigan
The Five Boroughs Cardigan was inspired by New York City; each color representing one of the boroughs (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island). Fits liked a relaxed, seamed cardigan but is completely seamless and great for beginners.
The three main panels of the cardigan are knitted flat while the sleeves are knitted in the round. The top of the back panel is knitted first; then stitches are picked up at the cast on edge of the back panel to create the front left and right panels. Once those panels match the back panel length, the three panels are joined and knitted together until bind off. From there, sleeves are then picked up between the back panel and front right (or left) panel and knitted in the round until bind off.
