This is my version of a 5-sided Virus throw. I used a fingering weight yarn worked together with a metallic gold thread. However, the pattern could be followed using whatever type of yarn desired with an appropriate hook since you just keep doing rounds until you reach the size you want. In my case, I went out to 59 rounds counting a sc border to make a throw large enough to stretch across a queen-sized bed using fingering sized yarn. Someone using #4 weight could probably get by with 20 or less rounds and reach the same size.
